Buzzing with excitement

The Herod Household is buzzing with excitement over our trip to Washington, DC.  It’s hard to believe that it’s only a few days away. We’ve been anxiously awaiting this trip for months now.  Here are some questions that have been tossed around over the past few days:

1.  Will our words come out the way we want them to? We are so grateful to be able to advocate for Kylie and others in a similar position.  Hopefully we can convey that the quality of care Kylie receives is so important for everyone.

2.  How will Kylie behave on the flight?  She is so active these days.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a long nap that just magically coincides with our travel times.  Realistically, I just hope that her travel toys fill the time.

3. Are we really doing this?  A year ago a trip like this was unimaginable.  Her health has progressed so much in such a short amount of time.  Last July even short road trips were a painful event for us all.

4. How hot is it really going to be?!  We all know how fussy Kylie (and Jon) can get in this weather.

We really can’t wait to share this experience with you all.

  1. Children’s Hospital couldn’t have selected better people to speak on the behalf of children’s health care and needs! Heather, you are solid! You will rock them to tears and move their hearts, just because it’s you and you have that way about you. Kylie will smile and they will know immediately what they should be doing to protect these children’s rights to the special care they need and should not be denied….Safe travels, and have a blast! sending lots of positive energy to you all.

  2. You are doing something so important and brave! Good luck and stay cool, (in 2 ways). Kylie is so lucky to have so many who love her. Heather and Jon, you are wonderful parents!!! All the best and send my best wishes to President Obama.

  3. I’m so proud of Kylie! (and her parents as well) Seeing the progress that she has made over the past year is nothing short of a miracle. With the support from all of her doctors, family, and especially Heather and Jon, this little girl will have a wonderful life. I cant wait to see her grow up and maybe even along the way teach us a thing or two! I’m very glad that she will be representing all the kids back home who still need the critical care!
