Food for thought…

We’ve been getting briefings from people at NACH about what to expect in our meetings tomorrow, which is helpful, as I haven’t ever met with government officials before (even basic things, such as how to properly address Representatives and Senators, need to be covered).  I had lunch today with a patient of mine and his family, and we discussed some of the problems that children’s hospitals across the nation are facing these days, and problems that many of the people that they know in their home state of Vermont face in accessing care, which really should not, in a perfect world, prevent a child from getting the care she or he needs.  More food for thought in anticipation of our meetings with the Senators and Representatives of Massachusetts and Vermont tomorrow.
